I have long been a fan of the Brasserie Montmarte as a great place to go for just about any occasion. Date night? Sure! Dinner with your parents? Absolutely! Drinks with a pal? Of course! Lunch with your pregnant best friend and both of your moms? YES!
The latter was the reason for visiting the Brasserie this past Saturday. That, and it is very close to Nordstrom. That is all I am going to say about that.
I think this might actually have been the first time I was in for lunch, and I was not disappointed. Everything on the menu looked delicious and I truly had a difficult time deciding between the burger, the croque monsieur and the roast beef sandwich (AKA, French dip).
I chose the burger in the end and was glad I did. It comes smothered in Gruyere, tomato-bacon jam and grilled onions and is every bit as decadent as it sounds. My best friend also chose the burger but ordered hers with truffle frites instead of the salad I chose, and I think she made the better choice. The truffle frites are amazing. A little over salted in my opinion, but the rest of the flavor is so jammin’ that I am willing to overlook it.
My mom ordered the Crab Salad Croissant and ate it without any complaints, so it must’ve been good enough. My complaint was that her little sandwich came out a good 5-10 minutes after the rest of us had already received our meals. WHY??
(Crab salad sandwich $13… small and delivered LATE, but still cute).
My friend’s mom ordered the roast beef sandwich which I almost regretted not ordering for myself, but it is definitely on my list for next time!
(The House Made Roast Beef sandwich with horseradish creme fraiche, Gruyere, and au jus $12.50)
Everyone but the pregnant lady had a couple of glasses of refreshing Prosecco at $7 a glass. No complaints there whatsoever!
In a nutshell: I love the Brasserie and will definitely be back for lunch in the future, however I really like it best in the evening when I can listen to live music and drink a bottle of champagne over a cheese plate.
Must have: The truffle frites. If you are going to cheat on your diet, these should be your mistress (or cabana boy, whatever).
What to watch out for: The crab salad sandwich is $13 and tiny. I would skip it.
If you’re on a budget: They have cups of soup, salads and side dishes (including mac & cheese) for $5 and under. A decent price for such a classy lunch!
